Vibram Five Fingers

Vibram Five Fingers

My favorite foot gear recently and perhaps ever.  Made from a  a thin, abrasion-resistant stretch polyamide fabric on top with a performance rubber compound on the sole, the Vibram Five Fingers give traction and low slip in all the environments I have explored.  And according to the Vibram web site the Five Fingers are made from vegan friendly materials. Wahoo!!!!

As I have used them almost exclusively since getting them this past Christmas they have been in many many places. In fact I use them everywhere I can:

  • Biking
  • running
  • walking
  • sand beaches
  • salt water kayaking
  • driving
  • hiking
  • climbing
  • yoga
  • I’ve not been in whitewater conditions, surfing, or skydiving with them yet and am curious how they will hold up.

They give me as close a feeling as being barefoot as anything I’ve ever worn on my feet. I’ve tried Reef and Teva sandals, Crocks, water proof shoes & booties and find I like these the best. I routinely get stopped and people ask me where I got them (In Search of Balance, St. Petersburg), do I like the sensation of separate toes (about 3 minutes to adjust the first time I wore them), what do the bottoms look like (see the photo). For the record yeah.. those are my sexy tanned legs on the white sand beaches! ;-)

So that’s my favorite pair of footgear in a nutshell.  Go give em a try and enjoy them before everyone jumps on the bandwagon!

:-)
