I found my next car. Its the Tesla Motors Model S.
It has an impressive list of features:

300 mile range
45 minute QuickCharge
0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds
Seats 7 people
More cargo space than sedans
2X as efficient as hybrids
All-wheel-drive available
5 minute battery swap
0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds
120 mph top speed
All-wheel-drive available

Production begins in 2011 and deposits are being taken now.

Is that all you have to do? Just swap out the battery? Do ya just keep spares in the trunk?

Sounds like it will be a fun car! Super fast and 2x more efficient than a hybrid (really?).

That is one of the options… You can also recharge 80% of the battery capacity in 45 minutes….

I think the battery swap is a great idea as it will allow for “battery” stations in stead of gas stations… and will permit switching to a higher capacity battery as time goes by. Like trading up to a bigger gas tank in your car.. but in only 5 minutes.

It’s my plan to get a spare with the car so I can double the initial effective range. However I’m optimistic that it will be greater than 300 miles by the time I take delivery!

Brooklyn Bound

I have accepted a position in New York City and will be moving to Brooklyn later this week! Over the US Thanksgiving Day weekend I finally had the opportunity to catch up on Lost. I've made it through seasons 4 & 5 and am now working on season 1, with 2-3 to follow. Saint Petersburg Sunrise

I finally made my way to Tampa Bay's water's edge to catch a sunrise. I liked it more than the sunsets... There felt more of an activity about at least with the birds and the dolphins. Pelicans and seagulls were swooping about and the dolphins were friskily feeding. Aside from a lone tug boat heading out to the Gulf of Mexico there was little human activity seen on the water.
