Kayaking on Boca Ciega Bay

Kayaking on Boca Ciega Bay

Monday night I picked up two new kayaks from KayakNature!  You see, you can’t be an official resident of Gulfport, Florida until you own your own kayak and take it out on Boca Ciega Bay. (In the same way you can’t truly be from San Francisco unless you are a web designer, DJ, massage therapist, fire spinner, or some combination of those)

By the time the call came that the kayaks were in and I could go and pick them up dusk was just over an hour away…   still I was soo excited that I wanted to get them wet that night that I headed to the municipal beach and launched as soon as I could.  I was only in the water for 15-20 minuted but it was as much fun as I had hoped!  Looking forward to this weekend when I plan on spending the entire day on the water rowing across Boca Ciega Bay and back again.

Storing them is proving to be a challenge as their 10.5 foot length in a little bigger than will easily fit in MooseB8 ( the 1983 diesel Suburban) so for now they reside in the apartment on the front stairs.  So if you come by to visit come round back!

:-)
