Farscape, 1000 feet of noise, a little bit of bass, and a Xone 2D
So Thursday is arrived and I realized I’ve not written anything about the recent weekend adventures…
I found myself watching the first season on Farscape this weekend whenever I was sitting down to code, play cards, eat or whenever iTunes was not on random play. I think I’ve only seen the first season and have really enjoyed reviewing the episodes in preparation for the remainder of the series. Now if I could only figure out who’s been downloading The Bachelor…….
On Thursday the Xone 2D arrived and much time was invested in getting it connected to Ableton Live and figuring out how it all works together.. Being a DJ is not that hard right? I’m a little overwhelmed with Ableton right now and hope to have a fundamental grasp by the time AL8 is released. I have so made a few looping jam sessions complete with recording my voice (Britney look out!) I am considering adding an Akai APC 40 for live performances.
Friday night I was at Cafe Bohemia enjoying a Cafe con Leche as I finished up some project. They had a mini noisefest that night. You may know it as experimental sound/music. When the police arrived I learned that St. Petersburg has a limit of 1000 feet for sound before 11:00 PM. After 11:00PM the distance drops to 100 feet. The last act moved inside. Luck for me it was a duet with one woman on guitar and another on piano. Well not really a piano but an M-Audio midi keyboard connected to Garageband. Sweet
Saturday I again encountered one of my neighbors when she returned home, went upstairs, banged on my door, and greeted me with “Turn the music down”
So with the addition of the Xone the studio is complete and my next step is to start working on understanding Live and developing my 1337 DJ skilz, and maybe discovering how to best mic my ukulele. Look for a mix this month coming soon to a set of headphones near you.
And the photo is one of Biscuit poking her head over the top of the cat climbing pole. She’s been assaulting it regularly.
