I figure that regardless how "private" I make a post, not that it resides in the information highway it is subject to exposure, catalogue, more exposure etc etc... I wouldn't post anything on a social network that I wouldn't mind being tacked onto the bulletin board in my office. One time I had to backtrack and remove a comment from FB about a "sales rep giving our department a facial" after my boss friended me. I'm sure he wouldn't be a bad sport, but you just can't trust people when paychecks are involved.
