CW44 Crew Clean’s Up Clam Bayou

On Tuesday I had the chance to help EcoGuide and Kayak Nature Owner Kurt Zuelsdorf guide the crew from a local Tampa Bay TV station, CW44, through Clam Bayou in Gulfport, Florida.

I’m not sure when the piece will air but I am confident that I am in several of the shots. It was a great time on the water hearing Kurt recount the history of the bayou with a twist of good natured humor. Over 100,000 pounds of trash have been pulled from Clam Bayou over the past four years. Kurt and his kayaks have been the instrumental force for collecting and removing the debris – tires, shopping carts, cash, DVD players, more tires, couches, lamps, and the list goes on.

I had a good time with the CW44 crew despite not being able to remain the entire time, having an appointment with all you can eat snow crab in celebration of the new season of Deadliest Catch!

What a joy, what a time. 15 crew members from CW44 donning their finest Going Green shirts couragously entered the throw of Clam Bayou and overcame the creepy obstacles of snakes, spiders & gators! Well, mostly anyway. The snake did freak out a first time paddler and the gator spooked a vetran outdoorsman but the trash was gathered in top notch form. Two car tires, a milk crate and dozens of bottles, cans & debris filled 8 bags. Because of Karin and the crew of CW44 Clam Bayou is shining brighter than ever!

Over the US Thanksgiving Day weekend I finally had the opportunity to catch up on Lost. I've made it through seasons 4 & 5 and am now working on season 1, with 2-3 to follow. Saint Petersburg Sunrise

I finally made my way to Tampa Bay's water's edge to catch a sunrise. I liked it more than the sunsets... There felt more of an activity about at least with the birds and the dolphins. Pelicans and seagulls were swooping about and the dolphins were friskily feeding. Aside from a lone tug boat heading out to the Gulf of Mexico there was little human activity seen on the water. Moulin Rouge

A show at the Moulin Rouge was a great way to wrap up my first trip to Paris. The show I saw was called Féerie. Over 100 performers in amazing costumes of feathers, lights, sparkly bits... WOW! Each show has seating for about 850 people and all you need do is call ahead to make reservations. Well not even that. Show up at the door and say you have reservations and you'll get seated.
