I thought that by working in a defined limit of time etc.. it would help me learn the tool rather than let my creative side run amuck!!

First, you&#039;re dealing with the frequency limitations from the tiny speaker.  Then you have to make the beginning and end of the microcomposition flow together.  Then, you have ensure that it doesn&#039;t get old after hearing it twenty times in a day.  

Here&#039;s some tidbits on how Brian Eno created the windows 95 startup sound (remember that pretty bit with the soft pad and delayed pianos?):
