Creating Ringtones

One of the areas I strongly desire to explore during me year of production is creating music.
I started off with a score to a short art film, Uniting States, and am now wanting to move into music. If you can get a Grammy for phone notifications then Ringtones are where I am going to start. 30 seconds of immortality here I come!

I’ll be hard at work and will list the completed ones here – but if let me know if you would something custom and I’ll get right on it!

:-)

I bet ringtones are a lot of fun.

First, you’re dealing with the frequency limitations from the tiny speaker. Then you have to make the beginning and end of the microcomposition flow together. Then, you have ensure that it doesn’t get old after hearing it twenty times in a day.

Here’s some tidbits on how Brian Eno created the windows 95 startup sound (remember that pretty bit with the soft pad and delayed pianos?):

    A quote:
“I thought this was so funny and an amazing thought to actually try to make a little piece of music. It’s like making a tiny little jewel.”

Oh wow.. I had no idea about Brian Eno and the Windows tune….

I thought that by working in a defined limit of time etc.. it would help me learn the tool rather than let my creative side run amuck!!

    thanks for all the suggestions!!
